While many buildings in Brookline show the town's history, they rarely reveal much of the past of the people who lived here. The history can remain hidden in plain view.
We have developed a Walking Tour to offer insight into the hidden history of slavery and freedom in our town, and Hidden Brookline Committee member Suzette Abbott has created a downloadable brochure. The walk introduces you to key events and major figures in the history of slavery and freedom in Brookline.
Click here to download the brochure to guide you on your walk.

If you would like to take a guided walk, led by a member of the Hidden Brookline Committee, simply email us or call the Human Relations Office of the Town of Brookline at 617-730-2330.
We normally ask for a minimum of 4 people to lead a guided walk. We have conducted walks tailored for ages 8 through 80.
